Child Care and Early Childhood Education
Having demonstrated compliance with nationally recognized criteria for high-quality
early childhood programs, St. Vincent de Paul Center’s Child Care Program has
been awarded accreditation by the National Association for the Education of
Young Children (NAEYC).
- Infant (starting at 3 months) and Toddler
- Pre-school
- State of Illinois Pre-K
- Full-day Kindergarten
- School Age - before and after school (up to 13 years)
Program Details:
- Provides a state-of-the-art facility that includes 2 infant rooms, 25 classrooms,
a full-size gym,
2 gross motor rooms, and 3 outdoor playgrounds.
- Utilizes concepts from the Creative Curriculum in assessing children’s social,
emotional, cognitive and physical development. This curriculum allows children
to
learn at their own pace so that they feel confident and successful.
- Offers a summer camp, which results in seamless, year-round support for working families.
- Operates a “Well Child Clinic” staffed by a full-time nurse and a consulting physician.
- Offers art therapy and character-building programs to enhance positive self-concepts and good habits.
- Provides staff programs in CPR, first aid and OSHA regulation compliance.
Tuition is based on household income and family size.

Clinical Services
- Assists the teaching staff by conducting behavioral assessments, interventions and referrals, and by administering social skills groups.
- Provides limited individual and family counseling.
- Offers group programs for St. Vincent’s parents and teen mothers.

Homeless Outreach
- Provides emergency assistance, assessment, and case management.
- Manages a food pantry, clothing closet, washing machines, and showers.
- Offers job search assistance, a mailing address, phone and fax services,
and computer use.
- Sponsors fall outreach fair that includes food, clothing, medical care, and referrals to other social service agencies.
- Serves as an application site for the CEDA low-income energy assistance program.
- Hosts AA meetings every Thursday at 3:00 PM, entrance on Webster Avenue.

Senior Services
- Provides outreach assistance, assessment, and case management for people age 60 or older in the Lakeview and Lincoln Park areas who are low-income, homebound, or at risk.
- Assists clients with healthcare advocacy and transportation.
- Offers money management counseling, shopping, and coordination of benefits.
- Manages Labouré House, an intergenerational residence for the older adults
and college students who assist the seniors and provide household services.
- Sponsors Senior and Visiting Companion programs, which offer friendly visits
for isolated seniors.
- Assists with decisions on end-of-life issues.
